About Us

Welcome to Royal Palm Country Club

A Long Tradition in Golf…Looking to the Future

Royal Palm has been a private, member-owned and member-friendly golf club since 1976. While golf is the central feature of the Club, the breadth of dining and social activities foster a vibrant, active lifestyle for golfers and non-golfers alike. Our members are known for their welcoming spirit and new members are amazed at how quickly “everyone knows your name”!

The 18-hole Olde Florida Style golf course was designed by David L. Wallace and redesigned by Gordon Lewis in 2000. Mature trees and landscaping line each fairway and lead the golfer to TifEagle greens with well-placed bunkers to challenge each approach shot. Eight tee placements are offered so the course can be fully enjoyed by players of every skill level. Also, the course is walker-friendly and short distances between greens and tees enable walkers to readily finish a round in four hours.

Royal Palm is proud of our PGA Golf Professional and Director of Golf, Rick Neet, who has been at the helm since 1981. His recognition as the 2012 Southwest Florida Golf Professional of the Year reflects the esteem his fellow golf professionals have for him. Indeed, PGA professionals have enjoyed Royal Palm’s many championship tournaments and the course is currently used to test the ability of future PGA members & apprentices.

Royal Palm lies within the East Naples Lely Country Club residential community and is easily accessible from Marco Island and the greater Naples area. One needs to visit Royal Palm to fully appreciate all that it has to offer. Please contact our Membership Office for more information. Once you visit, you will want to “come home” to Royal Palm.

History of Royal Palm

A 30 Year Tradition of Championship Golf

Royal Palm sits on a 188 acre tract of land in East Naples originally owned and developed by Cornelius Vander Lely. The first nine holes were opened in 1975; the second nine were completed in 1975 and the full 18-hole golf course opened in January, 1976. Between 1976 and 1984, Lely Royal Palm Country Club was a developer’s club. When wind of a possible sale was heard, the current subscribers formed an “Acquisition Committee” to buy the club from the developer. On May 1, 1985 the new Members officially purchased the club and Royal Palm Country Club, became a private, member-owned club.

The 18-hole championship golf course is one of four Naples area clubs built by course designer David L. Wallace. Other Wallace designed clubs include Marco Island Country Club, Royal Poinciana Golf Club, and Hibiscus Golf Club. Golf Professional Gene Sarazen once called Royal Palm “the best member layout in Collier County.”  The course was redesigned and renovated by Gordon Lewis in 2000 when the current TifEagle greens were installed.

The original clubhouse was built in 1979 and replaced in 1993 by a larger facility to accommodate the growing membership and social needs of the Club. While the footprint has not changed since the renovation, frequent updates in décor reflect an effort to maintain an ambiance suited to the time. The large open dining room offers seating for up to 200 Members and their guests with large windows on three sides that provide a panoramic view of the 18th hole and practice green. A recently-renovated bar area that seats 40 is a gathering place after golf and before social dining occasions.

Royal Palm has a rich history of charity events. Since its inception, golf tournaments for various charities have been hosted by our Golf professional, Rick Neet. Most notably, an AVOW Hospice Pro-Am Tournament was held annually from 1992 to 2012, drew professional golfers from throughout southwest Florida, and raised over $860,000 for that organization. Royal Palm is also host to a Special Olympics golf tournament each August and has extended practice and team play privileges to the Lely High School golf team.
